Citheronia regalis (Regal Moth)
The large Regal Moth has orange-veined, yellow-spotted gray forewings that reach a wingspan of 3.75 to 6 inches. The hindwings are orange and become yellow towards the base. The body is banded orange and yellow fringe.
They are more common in southern areas. Between June and September, adults produce one brood per season. Larvae host plants are trees such as ash, hickory, lilacs, sycamores, and sumac. It pupates below ground.
