Epargyreus clarus (Silver-spotted Skipper)

The Silver-spotted Skipper is named for the silver bands on the underside of the hindwings and the gold spots on the uppersides. The wings are brown and have a span of from 1.75 to 2.62 inches.

Adults feed on nectar and water. They are found in open or disturbed woods and along waterways. They spend their nights on the underside of leaves. Females lay eggs on locust trees, false indigo and legumes.
