Forest Wolf Spider (Gladicosa gulosa)
Description: The large cephalothorax of this spider is dark brown with a lighter stripe in the middle. The abdomen is grayish brown, sometimes (as in this specimen) with a V-shaped stripe or spot at the base. The legs are long, brown or gray and fuzzy.
Habitat: This species commonly lives in forests, where it can be inconspicuous on brown or gray dead leaves. Its range is most of the United States.
