Running Crab Spider (Tibellus duttoni)
The Running Crab Spider is a long-legged spider.
Description: The body is tan or gray with gray bands, or as in this specimen, a pair of lateral bands and a single one down the middle of the back. The long legs are light-colored; the first pair have four spines. Males grow to 5 - 7 mm; the females grow to 6 - 10 mm.
Habitat: This spider lives in tall grasses. When in resting pose, as shown here, it stretches itself out along the stem of a plant. Its range is the eastern United States as far west as Minnesota to Texas.
