A Guide to RiverWeb
INTRODUCTION
We created this guide to help teachers
utilize the materials available on the RiverWeb
CD-Rom and Web site in their classroom activites.
Each section of
RiverWeb is designed for use as a supplement
to an existing curriculum. For this reason, the
sections are individually organized in a more-or-less linear
fashion. However, this does not mean that they
cannot be explored out of sequence. Also, because the distinct
sections complement each other (
indeed, at many points the information in each
overlap and there are a number of
interconnected hyperlinks), the visitor can
start his or her explorations from any number of
starting points from within the RiverWeb site.
The materials presented can
be utilized in high school and college and
university classrooms, and in a
variety of settings; ranging from broad
American history surveys, to more specific
studies of the history of Illinois or the American Bottom
region, to classes dealing with music or
railroads.
These guides are preliminary, and will be reviewed by precollege and
college educators and students prior to further development.
