The Illinois State Museum Lockport Returns to the Gaylord Building Summer 2014: Featured Artist, Jason Brammer
LOCKPORT, IL— Summer Art Series 2014 is a partnership with the City of Lockport and the Gaylord Building-A Site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The Gaylord Building is the original site for ISM-Lockport before relocating across the plaza to our space in the Norton Building. We are pleased to introduce and welcome Jason Brammer for his first solo exhibition which will include a site specific installation with us here at the Illinois State Museum in the 2nd floor gallery of the Gaylord Building. Jason is a visual artist, painter, and object-maker based in Chicago, Illinois. His work is a combination of mixed media, hand-painted assemblages, airbrush painting, sophisticated detailed drawings, and site-specific installations. His mixed media work creates a simulacrum of painted imagery combined with sculptural components. Materials in his arsenal include antique remnants, reclaimed wood, and salvaged material found in the alleys in and around his world. The work challenges and experiments with illusionism through the painting practice of trompe l'oeil.
The public reception for Jason Brammer is Friday, June 20th from 6pm until 9:00pm in the second floor gallery of the Gaylord Building. RSVP's are recommended at (815) 838-7400 or by email at info-lockport@museum.state.il.us Exibition Dates 6/13/2014 – 8/1/2014.
