Celebrate Cultural Diversity! at the Illinois State Museum
Springfield, IL—The annual Celebrate Cultural Diversity! event will be held on Saturday, February 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This free family event is dedicated to the celebration of Illinois’ diverse cultural heritage. Area cultural groups and individuals will display information and artifacts from India, Greece, Italy, China, and more. Children will learn how to write their names in different languages, paint a ceramic tile, play games, and more. Throughout the event, the beat of African drums will be heard in the Museum’s lobby, and at 12:30 p.m., instructors from Com-Tec Martial Arts Academy will demonstrate various martial arts techniques in the Museum’s auditorium. Spring St. (on the corner of Spring and Edwards Streets) in Springfield and is open from 8:30 - 5:00 Monday through Saturday and from 12:00 - 5:00 on Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is available nearby and the building is ADA accessible.
