When
planning an exhibit
the first step is to choose the subject. To do this, we must think about
-
how the
exhibit will relate to the Museum's
mission
-
the goals
of the exhibit program
-
what the
Museum has in its collections
-
other
practical considerations such as costs, scheduling, transportation, etc.
We chose to
explore the art of Richard Hunt for several reasons.
- He
has a reputation as one of Illinois' top sculptors working today.
- It
had been twenty years since we last exhibited his work
- The
exhibit would appear at the Chicago Art Gallery during a city-wide sculpture
event and then travel to our Springfield facility.
After
identifying the subject of the exhibit, the curator planned
the physical exhibit.
