Welcome to the landing site at Cahokia Mounds, Illinois. This was the centerpiece of a florishing Native American culture between about A.D. 1000 and 1400. Like all cultures, this one fell to the forces of history and change...a lesson for the future from the past

Developed separately by the Illinois State Museum, the Cahokia Landing Site supports navigation by timeline and theme. Later pre-release versions of the prototype RiverWeb site and CD-ROM will integrate all the sections thematically. This will also be reflected in appropriate revisions to site navigation.
