Brownbag Lectures: Leaving the Longhouse: Palynological Evidence for Seasonal Mobility and Historical Connections in Priaire Protohistory
- Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
- Date: Wednesday, December 17, 2014, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Presented by Madeleine McLeester, Ph.D. Candidate in Anthropology, University of Chicago
This presentation will explore protohistoric life on the Eastern prairies through palynological data from the Oak Forest site in Cook County, Illinois. These data, sampled from features on the site, reveal the seasonal activities and mobility of the sites’ inhabitants, leading to an understanding of the connections between prehistory and history.
