Brownbag Lectures: An Art Historian's Sketchbook: The Female Figure
- Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
- Date: Wednesday, October 01, 2014, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Presented by Jennifer Jaskowiak, Curator of Art, ISM Lockport Gallery
The female form has been depicted by many artists—both male and female—within all genres throughout art history. She—Woman as subject—is a mother, a wife, a seductress, a goddess, a symbol, and an object. She is depicted clothed and unclothed, sometimes elegant and sometimes gangly, sometimes strong and sometimes fallen. Flip through one art historian’s sketchbook for a glance at the female figure through western art history.
