Brownbag Lectures: Recent applications of 3D technology at the Illinois State Museum: Printing, Pathology, and beyond...
- Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
- Date: Wednesday, November 06, 2013, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Presented by Dr. Chris Widga, Assistant Curator of Geology, Illinois State Museum
3D replication is not new to museums; however, current innovations in 3D technology allow us to tackle many new applications. This talk will review some of our recent work using 3D imaging to examine the pathology of sub-fossil bones, and the use of 3D printing to replicate significant collections. I will also explore where our 3D data may end up in the future!
