Brownbag Lectures: Restless Genius: The Art of Preston Jackson

Explore the insatiable creative appetite of one of Illinois’ artistic treasures. This talk will examine the many manifestations of Jackson’s art production. Viewers will get a sneak preview of the Richard Pryor commission (in- progress) and an overview of the artist’s multidirectional studio practice. Jackson is one of the featured artists in the current ISM Chicago FOCUS 4 exhibition. He is professor emeritus from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, founder of the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, and his work is in numerous public and private collections. He is the recipient of the highest honor bestowed upon citizens of the state—the Lincoln Academy of Illinois Lincoln Land Laureate.

Weekly lectures held at the Museum's Research and Collections Center. Lectures are usually held during lunchtime on Wednesday. The RCC is located at 1011 E. Ash Street in Springfield. Access to the building is from 10 ½ Street (between Ash and Laurel Streets), where there is ample visitor parking in the west parking lot. For more information, please call 217-785-0037.
