SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois State Museum (ISM) and the Springfield MakerSpace will host the first Mini Maker Faire at the ISM on Saturday, January 21 from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., inviting everyone with interests in hands-on arts, crafts, music, and technology to learn, create and share those interests.

The Mini Maker Faire will begin at 12:30 p.m. with an introduction to “maker spaces” and available activities by best-selling technology author, professor, and museum curator Joe Deken in the Illinois State Museum auditorium.  Hands-on demonstrations and “make and take” activities throughout the afternoon will include:

The Mini Maker Faire is for children age 5 and older and adults.  All children will have the opportunity to enter to win door prizes provided by Springfield MakerSpace.  

Activities are free with Museum admission ($5 admission for adults ages 19-64; free admission for children, seniors, and veterans). The Illinois State Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon until 4:30 p.m.  The Museum is located at 502 South Spring Street in Springfield.
