Satur-Play! - That's a Wrap!

  • Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
  • Date: Saturday, June 06, 2015, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Every Saturday is Super!
Experience Satur-Play! at the Illinois State Museum. Be drawn in by fun science experiments and art projects so entertaining and intriguing, you may forget you are learning! Recommended for the whole family and suggested for ages 3-10.

June Satur-Play! Activities:

June 6 - That’s a Wrap!
We will have lots of fun as we strap bubble wrap on the soles of our shoes and stomp paint on a giant mural!

June 13 - Solar Paper
Find your favorite object, lay it on a sheet of solar paper, leave it out in the sun for a few minutes, rinse, and, voilà, you have a work of solar art!

June 20 - More S’mores, Please!
Have you ever heard someone say, “It’s so hot, you could fry an egg!”? Let’s create a solar oven to “cook” our summer favorite – mini s’mores!

June 27 - DIY Lava Lamps
Do it Yourself! Make your own lava lamp with no electricity, just chemistry!

Satur-Play! is an engaging hands-on enhancement program for the Mary Ann MacLean Play Museum at the Illinois State Museum. This exciting new program features science and art activities that children and families can participate in while visiting the Play Museum. A different theme and activity will be offered each week on Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Registration is not required. Free and open to the public. For more information, call the Education Section at (217) 782-5955.
