Celebrate Cultural Diversity! Family Event

Celebrate Cultural Diversity at the Illinois State Museum! The Illinois State Museum’s annual Celebrate Cultural Diversity! event will be held on Saturday, March 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This free family event is dedicated to the celebration of Illinois’ diverse cultural heritage. Area cultural groups and individuals will display information and artifacts from India, Japan, Mexico, and across the world. Children will make paper dolls sporting fashions from the Muslim world, improvise with a Jazz musician, learn about African American inventors, and more.
Live performances will include:
- 11:30AM: Demonstration by Millburg's Tae Kwon Do
- 12:30PM: Music by African Ensemble of Central Illinois
- 1:30PM: St. Andrew's Society Celtic Dancers
- 2:30PM: Libaas—Attires of the Muslim World, fashion presentation by the Islamic Society of Greater Springfield

The Illinois State Museum inspires discovery and caring about Illinois’ cultural and natural resources and heritage. The Museum’s extensive collections and research activities provide the foundation for exhibitions and public programs that tell the story of the land, life, people, and art of Illinois. The Illinois State Museum is open from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is available nearby and the building is ADA accessible.
