Biodiversity Blitz! Family Event
- Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
- Date: Saturday, November 15, 2014, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
This fun event for families will focus on threatened and endangered plants and animals in Illinois as well as species that have made a comeback from the brink of extinction or extirpation. Families will search for threatened & endangered species in the Changes exhibition, design a conservation magnet, and learn what they can do to protect Illinois species through games. In addition, in celebration of Illinois species that have made a comeback and the 10th anniversary of the Changes exhibition, visitors can make a party animal hat.
At 11:30 am and 1:30 pm the Illinois Raptor Center will present “Back from the Brink” a live, raptor presentation that will highlight bird of prey species that are currently threatened or have made a comeback in Illinois. The presentation will feature a Bald Eagle, Barn Owl, Short-eared Owl, and Peregrine Falcon (subject to change), and will likely include a flying demonstration.
This program is part of the Educational Series sponsored by Bank of Springfield. Free and open to the public. For more information contact Elizabeth Bazan at events@museum.state.il.us or 217-782-5993.
