Naturally Inspired Art Workshop
- Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
- Date: Thursday, July 24, 2014 through Friday, July 25, 2014 , 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
9:00 am to Noon Grades 3-5 (completed)
For centuries, artists have been creating works of art inspired by the natural world around them. On July 24 and 25, children in grades 1-5 (completed) are invited to a fun, summer mini-camp at the Illinois State Museum to learn more about these artists and how to create “naturally inspired” art. Activities will include collecting natural materials on a nature walk, making recycled, plantable paper greeting cards, decorating a bird feeder, and more. Both mini-camps will be taught by ISM Assistant Curator of Education Elizabeth Bazan.
Activities: • Nature walk to collect natural materials for projects, • Sun prints on photo-sensitive paper, • Plaster plant studies, • Decorate a platform bird feeder, • Plantable pulp greeting card, • Plastic bag landscapes
Register early for a discounted rate! Advanced registration for this 2-day mini-camp is required by Sunday, July 20. The early registration cost is $35 for members and $45 for non-members by July 9. Registration after July 9 is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. Register at bit.ly/natinspire3-5 or call Elizabeth Bazan at 217-782-5593.
