Super Saturdays at the Museum: On the Road Again! Capturing Travel Memories

  • Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
  • Date: Saturday, June 14, 2014, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Whether you’ve traveled to faraway lands, or the other side of Springfield, travel memories can be great sources of artistic inspiration. Come to the “On the Road Again! Capturing Travel Memories” Super Saturday at the Illinois State Museum on June 14, 2014 from 11AM to 3PM and discover new ways of preserving your memories.

Families will journey through Illinois with the help of an interactive Adventure Guide and get their photo taken at the trip’s end. Children can also create a travel journal to take on their next trip, pack a suitcase for a trip, make postcard to send from the Museum, and create a one-of-a-kind photo holder – maybe as a gift for dad this Father’s Day!

Super Saturdays at the Illinois State Museum are designed for children 3-8 years old and are free and open to the public. Most activities can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes, although participants may stay as long as they wish. Parents are invited to participate with their children. For more information, call the Education Section at (217) 782-6044. Super Saturdays are sponsored by Bank of Springfield.

The Illinois State Museum inspires discovery and caring about Illinois’ cultural and natural resources and heritage. The Museum’s extensive collections and research activities provide the foundation for exhibitions and public programs that tell the story of the land, life, people, and art of Illinois. The Illinois State Museum is open from 8:30 am - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is available nearby and the building is ADA accessible.
