Super Saturdays at the Museum: Mimic the Masters
- Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
- Date: Saturday, May 10, 2014, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Master Artist? Be inspired to create your own masterpieces at the Illinois State Museum on May 10, 2014 from 11a.m. to 3p.m. at the “Mimic the Masters” Super Saturday. Families are invited to draw inspiration from famous works of art from artists around the world. Children will use straws to splatter paint in the style of Jackson Pollock, and create a flower collage using texture like Vincent van Gogh. Other activities will include a cubist self-portrait and the opportunity to collaborate on a colorful Mondrian-inspired display. Also on exhibit: a mural inspired by Wassily Kandinsky created by visitors the previous Saturday during the Museum’s “Reuse & Rediscover” event.
Bring the whole family to Super Saturdays at the State Museum! Super Saturdays are held the 2nd Saturday of each month from 11am-3pm and offer free, thematic activities recommended for children ages 3-8. Activities take 30 to 45 minutes to complete and feature crafts and educational games. Parents and families are encouraged to participate. Registration is not required for this activity. Free and open to the public. For more information, call the Education Section at (217) 782-6044. Super Saturdays are sponsored by Bank of Springfield.
