Super Saturdays at the Museum: Eagles, Falcons, & Hawks: Not Just Sports Teams

  • Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
  • Date: Saturday, March 08, 2014, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

From the trees in the forest to the trees along the highway, it's time to start seeing raptors! Visitors will be enraptured by raptors during this month's Super Saturday on March 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can learn about raptor traits, how to identify common birds of prey, and how kites got their name. Crafts and activities will include examining owl pellets, making a bird kite, and more.

Live Raptors!
Participants will be able to see and learn about live birds of prey throughout the event provided by Treehouse Wildlife Center, a rescue, rehabilitation, and release center near Alton, IL. This is a great opportunity to see birds of prey up close and ask questions.

Super Saturdays at the Illinois State Museum are designed for children 3-8 years old and are free and open to the public. Most activities can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes, although participants may stay as long as they wish. Parents are invited to participate with their children. For more information, call the Education Section at (217) 782-6044. The Super Saturday series is sponsored by Bank of Springfield.
