Hickory Ridge Concert Series: NASHVILLE SONGWRITER AT HICKORY RIDGE

Hickory Ridge Concert Series: NASHVILLE SONGWRITER AT HICKORY RIDGE

  • Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
  • Date: Saturday, June 18, 2016, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Until further notice this program series will be held at the Lewistown Visitors Center.

Nashville Singer-songwriter Dana Cooper will take the stage this Saturday, June the 18th at the Hickory Ridge Concert Series at the Lewistown Visitor’s Center in Lewiston at 7:00 PM. Known as a “powerhouse” troubadour Dana dedicated himself to a life of music over 40 years ago. Known for his quick wit, insightful stories and commanding presence, Cooper’s songs have been recorded by top-notch artists such as bluegrass star Claire Lynch; Irish vocalist Maura O’Connell; and luminary songwriters Pierce Pettis and Susan Werner.

Cooper’s mixture of flat-picking, finger-picking and percussive strumming style is legend among other guitarists. An expressive singer, his voice is ageless evoking a rich lifetime of experience. Cooper’s diverse experiences as a taxi driver, warehouseman, nurse’s aid, gardener, waiter and touring musician continued to bring maturity and depth to his songwriting. He eventually moved to Texas writing, performing and recording with Shake Russell in the late 70s and with his own power trio, DC3 during the early 80s. Returning to his roots as a solo performer Cooper relocated to Nashville in 1988 where he has become an integral figure in the Music City songwriting community. He recently released his 25th album.

The ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary Women's group will once again provide a great selection of real homemade pies, brownies, cakes, hot chocolate, coffee and popcorn for sale throughout the evening.

The Hickory Ridge Concert Series is held the 3rd Saturday of every month and begin at 7:00 p.m. with the doors opening at 6:00 p.m. Coffee, drinks, and a variety of desserts are available during intermission. There is an admission charge of $8.00 per adult and $5.00 for children under 12. Seating is limited to the first 150 people. For the time being, concerts are being held at the Lewistown Visitor's Center, 222 Main Street in Lewistown while the state works through it's current fiscal crisis.
