Nature Trek: Mound Survey
- Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
- Date: Saturday, May 16, 2015, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Dickson Mounds Museum is hosting a Mound Survey as part of the Nature Trek series on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The most obvious evidence of the prehistoric past of the area is manifest by earthworks built for a variety of purposes. We will visit several earthworks located in the Lewistown-Havana area and discuss what we know about them.
Participants will receive a field guide for the trip and must provide their own transportation and lunch. Meet at the Museum promptly at 9:00 am. The program is free and registration is not required. Participants should dress appropriately for the outdoors.
The Illinois State Museum - Dickson Mounds is located between Lewistown and Havana off Illinois Routes 78 and 97. The museum is open free to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day. Tours and special programs are available for groups with reservations. For more information call 309.547.3721 or TTY 217.782.9175 or visit the www.experienceDicksonMounds.com.
