Bringing history to life, Histories for Kids, Inc. presents “Pirate Stories” at the Dickson Mounds Museum, as part of the Tot Time program series on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 9:30am. “Pirate Stories” will be performed by actor Terry Lynch, of Histories for Kids, Inc. Audience members will hear pirate tales (both male and female) from around the world. Mr. Lynch, as your very genial host, Captain Taffy, will tell exciting tales of pirates from many exciting locations including: England, Germany, Ireland, Morocco, The Caribbean and MORE!! Tots and their adult(s) are encouraged to dress and talk like pirates. Afterwards, tots will enjoy a hands-on craft to take home. Older siblings are welcome to attend this summer Tot Time program.
Authors of two books: Mistakes Happen: An Historical Guide to Overcoming Adversity and Nicholas Comes to America, the Story Of Santa Claus, Lynch and his wife Laura, an educator, began Histories for Kids, Inc., as a way to bring history to life for children of all ages.
Admission is free and registration is not required. However, groups of 7 or more are encouraged to call in advance to ensure the availability of craft supplies. Light refreshments will be served. Adults and their tots will have fun exploring, discovering, and learning on the first Thursday of the month from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the Museum’s Discovery Center. Spend quality time with your tot, while each of you makes new friends. A different topic and craft will be featured each month. Registration is not required and admission is free.
