FIRST NATIONS FILM & VIDEO FESTIVAL presentation The OTHER 51%: Native American Women Directors
Join us Friday, May 29th at 1 pm at the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery for a presentation of new and recent films by Native American Women Directors. For so long Native American culture and voice has been out of our control and none more so than that of Native American women.
First Nations Film and Video Festival, Inc. and the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery presents The Other 51%, a film program dedicated to promoting the voice and works of Native women filmmakers. This program includes new works by Pamela Peters, April Maloney, and more.
Join us for this unique program. Featured Films: PROJECT EAGLE FEATHER by Tammy Lynne, Objibwa The Project Eagle Feather is an aboriginal historical documentation of unheard stories aimed to encourage the rising and healing of our people; rippling on to reach us all. Legacy of Exiled NDNs by Pamela Peters, Navajo This film addresses the historic U.S. policy of American Indian urban relocation and the visual, narrative imagery of American Indians in mass society. Holders of the Crown by April Maloney, Mi'Kmaq This film looks at the past 30 years of Mi'Kmaq Supreme Court cases in Atlantic, Canada.
