A retired EPA lawyer, Roger Grimes has a passion for conservation, which is reflected in each piece he constructs in wood. "The beauty is there in the material. My intent is to allow that to show through. I am not making it beautiful. Open the envelope and let that show through."
Growing up on a farm in Iowa, Grime's parents were active environmentalists, early champions of reclaiming land for prairie plants and reforesting. With that background Grimes feels connected to the entire process leading to a piece of furniture, from nursery to saw mill. Roger Grimes will be featured exhibition at Illinois Artisans, Chicago this June. Roger Grimes will also be featured at the Father's Day Art Spree.
