Leuconycta lepidula (Owlet Moth)

The owlet moth is a small (less than one inch wingspan) species. Its hindwings are grayish and the forewings have a marbled green and grey pattern. The pattern is protective coloration when the moth rests on lichens and bark.

This moth lives in the eatern half of the United States, east of the Mississippi River.
