Hickory Ridge Concert Series: The Shanties bring Celtic to Hickory Ridge
Location: ISM Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown
Date: Saturday, January 19, 2013, 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
The Hickory Ridge Concert Series welcomes the return of the driving sounds of “New Irish” music as The Shanites take the stage Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7:30 pm. This Bloomington based celtic group has been performing around the state creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a party below deck of the Titanic.
In 2001 The Bloomington Pantograph named The Shanties “Best Local Irish Band”. While there is nothing sweeter than an Irish ballad, The Shanties focus on the up-tempo rowdier melodies of Ireland With Chris Golick on fiddle and guitar, John Parkhurst on mandolin and guitar, Jayson Griffith on bodhran and Kris Lewis Parkhurst on guitar, the group uses their performances as a celebration of Irish music and culture. In 2011 The Shanties released their first CD, “Fear Not”.
