Romanza Frank Lloyd Wright Documentary Viewing

  • Location: Illinois State Museum, Springfield, Springfield
  • Date: Sunday, March 25, 2012, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Film producer and director Michael Miner will present two viewings of his film Romanza which features all twenty-five California buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This film will be presented by the Dana-Thomas House Foundation in the Illinois State Museum’s Thorne Deuel Auditorium at 12:30 and 2:30 pm on Sunday, March 25. A time for questions and answers will follow each viewing. To view the trailer for Romanza click here

In addition to the film, “Eddie’s House”, the only doghouse ever designed by Wright will be on display, March 25, at the State Museum. Twelve-year-old Jim Berger, son of Wright’s client Robert Berger, wrote to Wright in 1956 asking him to design a doghouse for his black Labrador Retriever Eddie. Wright provided working drawings for the structure which was eventually built by Jim’s father and brother Steve in 1963. Though the original structure was disposed of, Jim and his brother Eric recently rebuilt the structure from the original plans.  Original blueprints of the doghouse, and the correspondence between Wright and Jim, will also be on display.
