Ethnohistorical accounts and common sense suggest that tanned deer hides were a primary material for clothing. American Bottom heat and humidity likely made for minimal summer dress. In comparison to the surrounding prairies the milder winters of the Mississippi River valley allowed for relatively unspecialized winter garb, although it seems likely that furs and hide capes were much sought after for warm bedding and dress.
