Cornus florida (Flowering Dogwood)
Flowering dogwood trees grow to 30 feet with spreading or horizontal branches on which tiny yellowish-green flowers and four red, pink, or white bracts appear in spring. It grows in moist and dry soiils of valleys and uplands, and in old fields and along roadsides. Its range is from central Michigan across to southwest Maine, south into Florida and west to Texas.
