Muhlenbergia frondosa (Muhly)
Muhly is a branched, sprawling grass that grows to three feet tall in moist prairies and forest and forest edges. The 1/3 inch wide alternate leaves taper to points. The roots are scaly rhizomes. Flowers are greenish to lavender pointy spikelets enclosed by bracts. It blooms from late summer to fall. It is considered a weed in some situations.
