Calamagrostis canadensis (Bluejoint Reedgrass)
This specimen of Bluejoint Reedgrass shows part of a shallow root system of this thickly growing grass that grows from two to six feet in height. It is widespread across the prairie, particularly in moist areas. The leaves are bluish and measure only about 1/3" wide. Single flowers appear on spikelets in early to mid summer.
