Woodland Religion

Objects with images of animals that soar in the sky or dive in the water such as falcons, eagles, otters, ducks, and beaver, incised on or carved from exotic materials appear during the Woodland. Such designs appear on ceramic vessels or platform pipes and may show the special place of animals that can travel in more than one world. The elaborate mortuary practices of Woodland people also provide insights into religious practices.
