Woodland Lifestyles
By 3000 years ago the valley landscape had attained much of its modern natural character. Old river channels, and large backwater lakes abandoned at the end of the Ice Age now formed a mosiac of wetlands, shallow lakes, and slow moving streams. Woodland people intensively collected fish and seeds for food. By the middle of this period a number of plants were being cultivated. Towards the end of the period a new crop was imported from the south, Maze, or Corn.
