Libellula quadrimaculata (Four-Spotted Skimmer)
Total length = 40mm female
The face and the front edge of the forewings of the Four-Spotted Skimmer are amber in color, while the stout body is dull brown with a yellowish line down the sides. The hind wings each have a triangular black spot.
This northern speices frequents bogs, marches, and slow streams. They may appear early, but are abundant in June and July.
