Pitcher and glasses, 1935-1940

Made by West Bend Aluminum Co., West Bend, WI
Spun aluminum, wood

Though housewives doubted at first that anything as light in weight as aluminum could be durable enough for the kitchen, advertisers and the product itself eventually convinced them otherwise. Sold as "the only Cooking Utensils that will not rust, crack or burn," aluminum from saucepans to cookie cutters, was soon the rage. Aluminum could be cast or spun like this set of pitcher and glasses, which was "seamless" and "silver-bright."
