  Frank Cassini (1899-1967)
Galesburg, Illinois

Frank Cassini, of Galesburg, Illinois, was a prolific carver of prey and confidence decoys for forty years. He produced more than 5,000 decoys. He made several examples of dove decoys of balsa wood. Mourning doves are a bird of prey in Illinois. The decoys were hung in trees from a string attached to a screwhook in their backs. They are considered graceful works of folk art today.
