The plow was run several times over the same place, cutting deeper at each pass. <b>Hutmacher's Ice House, Quincy, Illinois</B><BR>Men are guiding bocks of ice on and off the ice conveyor at Hutmacher's Ice House in Quincy. The blocks were arranged in layers packed with sawdust. <B>Ice Harvesting Tools</B><BR>These tools are an example of ice-harvesting technology circa 1900. The Singletree walking-plow cut lines in the ice to make a grid. Cutting Ice Up Bay - School Boys <B>Ice Conveyor</B><BR>This 1900 photograph shows the blocks of ice being pushed up the ice conveyor to a higher level of the riverbank.
