Where Are The Wild Things? at the Illinois State Museum
Annual Halloween Festival promotes safe, healthy, and fun activities SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Illinois State Museum’s popular annual Halloween festival, Where Are the Wild Things, is Sunday, October 30 from Noon until 5:00 pm. This event is specially designed for children 12 and under, and guests are encouraged to come in costume. The Museum is partnering with genH Coalition to present natural science and health activities for children throughout the day. Children will learn about heart health while seeing pig hearts dissected, exploring a bat cave, walking like an animal, playing games, and more. Live entertainment will include · comedic juggling by Troy Roark at 1:00 p.m., · storytelling by Dan Keding at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and · magic with Eldon Roak at 4:00 p.m. Each child will win prizes by completing activities and will be eligible to win door prizes, such as a Wii, fishing poles, toys, books, and other educational and recreational items, thanks to donations from many area businesses. Admission at the door is $2 for children and $1 for adults. Visitors can pose for a picture with the Friendly Witch ($2 fee). Proceeds from this event support educational programs at the Museum throughout the year. WDBR 103.7 FM, genH Coalition, St. John’s Children’s Hospital, and many local sponsors have helped make this event possible.
