Billy Morrow Jackson grew up in Missouri and lives in Illinois. One of his favorite subjects to paint is the prairie landscape of rural Illinois. He portrays the huge sky, flat land, and open spaces that are found in many parts of the state. Philo is a small town south of Urbana, in eastern Illinois.
