Emil Armin (1883-1971) Oil on canvas Illinois State Museum collection Gift of Susanna and Matthew Morgenthau in memory of their mother Irma Thorman Morgenthau The Open Bridge by Emil Armin represents the Museum's collection of Illinois paintings. The ISM has more than 145 paintings and prints by this significant Chicago artist who was active in Chicago from the 1930s to the 1970s. During the 1940s, Armin was employed by the WPA (Works Progress Administration). One of the strong points of the ISM Fine Art Collection is its WPA holdings.
