This quilt pattern is a variation of several well-known patterns. It is most like Tangled Cobwebs and is similar to Wild Goose Chase variations and to a block called Spider Web. These patterns were published in magazines in 1933 and 1934. Many quilters took a pattern that appeared in print (as in the newspaper, for example) and added, subtracted, or changed an element to add a personal touch.

What part of this pattern gives you the impression of motion? What happens visually to cause this?

If the lines of triangles represent the strands of a spider's web, what might the eight-pointed stars represent?
