Brownbag Lectures: The Big Eddy Project: Early Human Occupation in Southwest Missouri
- Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
- Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Well stratified Archaic and Paleoindian components make Big Eddy in southwest Missouri a nationally significant archaeological site. It has produced evidence relevant to discussions of the earliest humans in the Midwest. This talk will provide an overview of nearly a decade of research at the site by archaeologists at the Center for Archaeological Research at Missouri State University and others from a variety of institutions. "[Big Eddy] truly may be one of the archaeological 'treasures' of the midcontinent." —Dr. R. Bruce McMillan, Director Emeritus, Illinois State Museum
