Brownbag Lectures: "Stone Age Stories — Why Fiction?"
- Location: ISM Research & Collections Center, Springfield
- Date: Wednesday, February 08, 2012, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Presented by Dr. Lynn Fisher, Associate Professor of Anthropology, Chair, Sociology/Anthropology Dept. University of Illinois at Springfield and Adjunct Research Associate, ISM
As a fan of prehistoric fiction, Dr. Fisher will outline some aspects of the development of this genre, which launched in 1859, the same year as Darwin's Origin of Species. She will explore some of the approaches novelists, science fiction writers, children's book authors, and archaeologists have taken to exploring deep time through fiction, with an emphasis on stories of the European Stone Age.
