Presented by: Dr. Lynn Fisher, ISM Adjunct Research Associate, Associate Professor of Anthropology, Sociology/Anthropology Program, University of Illinois Springfield This presentation gives an overview of the long history and changing methods of investigation of the Neolithic and Bronze Age lake dwellings of the alpine foreland in southern Germany and Switzerland. Dr. Fisher will talk about highlights of early discoveries, the 19th century "pile dwelling" craze, ethnographic comparisons, and extraordinary conditions of organic preservation.

Weekly lectures held at the Museum's Research and Collections Center. Lectures are usually held during lunchtime on Wednesday. The RCC is located at 1011 E. Ash Street in Springfield. Access to the building is from 10 ½ Street (between Ash and Laurel Streets), where there is ample visitor parking in the west parking lot. For more information, please call 217-785-0037.
