Two great men were born on February 12, 1809. Join the Illinois State Museum in a day of exciting science exploration to celebrate the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin and Abraham Lincoln. Learn about the science of their era. Search for and investigate animals and plants like the naturalists of long ago, learn about surveying and medicine, have a piece of birthday cake, and much more. You will also have the opportunity to chat with Charles Darwin, portrayed by Brian "Fox" Ellis. Mr. Darwin will share his adventures from his monumental journey on the H.M.S. Beagle, and explain his theory of evolution in an interactive presentation held in Thorne Deuel Auditorium at 12:30 and 2:00 PM.
This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition From Humble Beginnings: Lincoln's Illinois 1830-1861, which explores the land and social climate of the Illinois that Lincoln knew. For more information call Elizabeth Bazan at 217-782-5993.
