Paul Mickey Science Series: Heavy Metal: Brent Kington's Toys and Akan Asante Goldweights

The January 12, 2011 Paul Mickey Science Series lecture will be held, at 7:00 p.m. in the Thorne Deuel Auditorium on the lower level of the Illinois State Museum. This is the finale to the L. Brent Kington: Mythic Metalsmith exhibition.

Presented by Dr. Jonathan E. Reyman, Curator of Anthropology, Illinois State Museum

Dr. Reyman will discuss some of the Asante influences on Kington's toys in the context of a wider look at the Museum's collection of goldweights, their history, and use among the Asante people of Ghana. The ISM gallery will be open before and after the presentation.
