National Fossil Day

Free and Open to the Public Come to the Illinois State Museum and help celebrate the Nation's first Fossil Day. National Fossil Day is a new celebration organized by the National Park Service to promote public awareness and stewardship of fossils, as well as to foster a greater appreciation of their scientific and educational values. Special programs will include hands-on children's activities in A Place for Discovery. Docents will be available in the Changes: Dynamic Illinois Environments exhibition to share touchable hands-on fossils including Illinois' State fossil, the Tully Monster.
