Women Speak with Needle and Thread
- Location: ISM Lockport Gallery, Lockport
- Date: Sunday, May 22, 2011, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
One way that women have expressed their opinions about current events is through creative outlets such as quilting. In her lecture and trunk show, renowned quilt expert Sandy Schweitzer examines women’s views through their quilting from the mid-1800s to the present, touching on topics such as war, temperance, politics, community service, the environment, and the women’s movement. Admission is free. Reservations are not required, but seating is limited. This event is being offered at the Illinois State Museum Lockport Gallery in conjunction with the exhibition Amish and "English": Quilts from the Illinois State Museum Collection.
